When virtual assistants ask me, “How can I get more work?” one of the first things I tell them is to start a blog. I blogged over at www.AllQualityWebsites.com for a short time, and three years later, those posts are the source of at least one lead each and every week.
Not too bad for a few hours work several years ago, huh? No, it didn’t bring me immediate income, but it does continue to work for me, not only in lead generation, but also by:
- Proving my expertise. Site visitors can read a couple of posts or watch a video or two and know pretty quickly that I know what I’m talking about.
- Answering questions. Clients tend to ask the same questions over and over, so rather than writing a long email response for every one, I can simply point to a blog post and say, “Here’s your answer.”
So because I’ve seen what content can do for traffic and leads, and because I believe in “putting my money where my mouth is,” I’m challenging myself to blog better and more consistently.
If you’re not familiar with this annual tradition, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. Each November, fiction writers pledge to complete a 50,000 word novel in just 30 days.
I won’t be writing fiction, but I will be writing: one blog post per day for the entire month of November.
We’ll kick off on Friday, so watch this space!
